Grateful ("we," "our," or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle information when you use our mobile application ("App").

Our Privacy Commitment

Your data stays on your device. Grateful is designed with privacy at its core. We do not collect, store, or transmit your personal journal entries to any external servers. Your gratitude entries, photos, and personal reflections remain entirely on your device.

Information We Do Not Collect

We do not collect:

• Your journal entries or gratitude notes
• Photos you attach to entries
• Your name, email address, or contact information
• Your location data
• Device identifiers for tracking purposes
• Any information that could identify you personally

iCloud Sync (Optional Premium Feature)

If you subscribe to Grateful Premium and enable iCloud sync, your journal entries are stored in your private iCloud account using Apple's CloudKit technology. This data is:

• Stored in your personal iCloud account, not on our servers
• Encrypted by Apple both in transit and at rest
• Only accessible by you through your Apple ID
• Subject to Apple's privacy policy and your iCloud storage settings

We cannot access, read, or retrieve your iCloud-synced data. Only you have access through your Apple ID.

Subscription Information

If you purchase a Grateful Premium subscription, the transaction is processed entirely by Apple through the App Store. We receive:

• A confirmation that a subscription is active (no payment details)
• Anonymous, aggregated analytics about subscription trends

We do not receive your name, email, payment information, or any personally identifiable information through the subscription process.

Analytics

We may use privacy-preserving analytics to understand how the App is used in aggregate (e.g., which features are popular, crash reports). This data is:

• Fully anonymized and cannot be linked to individual users
• Used solely to improve the App experience
• Never sold or shared with third parties for advertising

Third-Party Services

Grateful uses the following third-party services:

• Apple App Store: For app distribution and subscription processing
• Apple CloudKit: For optional iCloud sync (Premium feature)
• RevenueCat: For subscription management (receives only anonymous subscription status)

These services have their own privacy policies, which we encourage you to review.

Data Retention

Since your data is stored locally on your device (and optionally in your iCloud account), you have complete control over it. You can:

• Delete individual entries at any time
• Delete all app data by uninstalling the App
• Manage iCloud data through your device's Settings

Children's Privacy

Grateful is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect any information from children. The App is rated 4+ on the App Store and is suitable for all ages.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the "Last updated" date.
